It dawned on me that I do everything online, from banking to working (some days). Might as well harness the power of the interwebs to cast a wider net to maybe find the person that could make life more colorful and enjoyable. Hey, a guy can dream!

My basics: While I usually describe myself as a pretty average kinda guy, I'm finding through conversations and friends that I may not have that exactly right. With the caveat that if I could entirely describe myself in a little text box, then I'd have a pretty boring story to tell, here goes the macro-level stuff: 42, work in higher education so tend to trend a little younger in terms of pop culture or frames of reference because of colleagues' and students' age. Devoted dog dad to a doofy almost two-year-old golden retriever. Established in my career I love and am fairly decent at, and finally done with educational pursuits (finished a doctorate a couple of years ago). Am a published author and working on my second book now. Will never be the hot guy to lord over your girlfriends, but will always be there in whatever way you need. Definitely try to be the rock for the person I'm with, however not The Rock like Dwayne Johnson. As likely to find me tailgating for a football game as you would see me journaling on the back deck with a great bourbon. A Renaissance Man, I suppose. Will definitely make you laugh. Will probably make you roll your eyes occasionally. Will be careful with your heart. Never married, no kids, but several lengthy serious relationships in my past. Took the last year or so to work on myself and heal after a long-term relationship ended with the hopes of avoiding bringing baggage and chaos to the next one, undeservedly so.

The goal: I'm looking for someone that provides some color to an otherwise pretty outstanding life. I've always believed that a partner should add on, not fill in, and I think I'm finally at a point where I can say I don't necessarily need someone, as I have my ducks in a somewhat orderly row. But having someone else to share the fun and excitement and amazing of this life would be a great thing. I don't have a lengthy list or checkboxes. At the most foundational and elemental level, be passionate. About anything. Love to laugh. Make me think. Talk for hours. Equal sends of goofy memes and things you dream of for tomorrow. Be wildly authentic and we'll get along great.
