I quit on June 1st this year. It’s now August 24th. I believe that is 84 days. I am so happy to finally be rid of that habit.
I, however, on 4 occasions over this past 84 days, have had a few cigarettes during a night out. I have in large part stopped going out and drinking because I have an extremely hard time not smoking when I have a few drinks in me. And it’s kind of an added bonus because I generally think having more than one drink is probably pretty bad for my body.
I honestly would be happy to nearly quit drinking and going out all together, I just maybe need an extra push from someone who has done it and doesn’t regret it.
Has anyone else had to stop drinking or going out completely in order to stop smoking?
How do I surpass this compulsion to smoke the occasional cigarette?
Has anyone tried journaling to combat this? If yes, what do you write about?
Any advice at all is appreciated, please just spare me any shame as I tried to quit probably 30 times and this is the only time I have been successful. I know I ideally shouldn’t partake at all, but this is the best I can do and I’m trying to get better. Thanks.
