I'm not even a week into my taper yet, but I'm feeling a lot better than the first few days. I'm still at around 12 gpd and lowering slowly. This is the best way for me, but it still has me thinking about the future, and how kratom can work it's way into every area of our lives. I realized how much I would use kratom as a "reward" or motivation to get things done. I've always had mental health struggles, anxiety, depression, etc. It can make it hard to do the most simple things. Kratom really came in and gave me the motivation to do those things. Don't feel like cleaning the house? Well, if you sweep and mop you can take another dose. Don't feel like getting a shower, or running errands? Well, if you do those things you can take another dose. It's so insidious that I didn't even realize I was doing these things. I feel motivated in my desire to quit, but I know I'm going to have to deal with the way I used kratom as the proverbial carrot on a stick. I'm going to have to find my motivation in other ways, and that makes me nervous. The good part is that - so far - I'm not struggling with lack of motivation yet, probably because of my slow taper. I actually feel better than I did at my higher dosage, so I think right now I'm still able to do the things I need to do. But I know I have to remain vigilant, and that I'll probably have to deal with this in the future. Just wanted to share my experience with this. Thought maybe some of you might have gone through the same things. Thanks to this community, it has already been a great help.
