I found a foundation paper pieced block pattern that finishes at 16" x 10" and I want to turn it into a throw quilt for my grandmother. At minimum, I'll want to upsize it and then make the remainder of the quilt out of the background fabric. But I think that scale will drown the block (a barn owl) so I was wondering if I could up-scale it to take up the entire width of a throw quilt (16" --> 48"). And if so, are there any considerations I need to make aside from seam allowances?
The pattern is The Curious Owl from Griffin and the Bear on Etsy if anyone's curious.
