My grandmother taught me to sew and quilt when I was 9. She’s no longer in my life, but she ignited a love of crafting in me. After years of wanting to start again, and rediscovering the joy of hand-piecing (pictured above) I bit the bullet and bought a quilting/sewing machine online at Joann. I justified the purchase on a grad student budget with the hopes of starting a mending/sewing side hustle. I bought fabric, batting, and backing as well to get started. In my excited state, I let my phone auto fill the shipping address. It was only after I placed the HEFTY order that I realized my package was going to my old home, 2000 miles away. (I moved for grad school) I anxiously tried to cancel the order. No luck. I contacted Joann customer service. Not only will they not cancel the order after it’s been placed (hasn’t even shipped yet!) they won’t let you change the address. They informed me that I could contact the carrier to change the address once it ships. Tried to do that today, and fedex will not change the address because of the type of postage Joann bought. They will not hold it either. I am at a loss. I asked an old friend that still lives in the town to try and retrieve the package and ship it to me, but I’m starting to accept that I may end up losing what for me was half a month’s paycheck. ðŸ˜
