Why do some people get violently angry about movie remakes?

This one is quick. For those of you filled with righteous fury about Disney and other companies remaking/remasterimg their intellectual property, can you explain your anger to me? Personaly I take the whole, if I'm not interested, I am not required to partake notion. I have met people who were willing to get into screaming matches over wether or not a company should have the right to produce a new adaptation of their work. Videogame companies are also at question here.
