Hi all, me and my fiancée (both 27F) are considering moving to Philly in a year or two from Southern CA. The cost of living here is just too out-of-hand, and with housing prices over $1 million for an actual shithole, we just don’t have a sustainable future here, even though we love our community, the weather, and amenities. We’re incredibly integrated into the local queer community and, from what I’ve read, it seems like Philly’s queer community is evenly distributed across the city.
What we’re most interested in a location to live in below, if you’re able to speak to it, please comment! - Walkability / public transit (would love to be within a few blocks of a rail system into the city) - dog friendly (possibility of having a yard of any size for our two dogs) - queer community, queer spaces - budget: $2500 renting 2 bedroom
I’m also wondering if y’all have insight into the local nonprofit and environmental science industries in the area. My partner is a biologist looking for work in either environmental science or biotech (preference for environmental work) and I work in nonprofit development. I would love to hear insight into the nonprofits in the area that are doing good community-based work that centers QTBIPOC voices and leadership.
