Advice on savings

I currently have around 6k sitting in a normal savings account for my uni fees for this semester and next. I use Sharesies and still pretty new to investing. Is it a good idea to invest some/all of it into an index fund or their savings accounts? That money will slowly increase and then when the time comes to pay my fees I can just sell/take out the amount I need. Its better than just having it sit there right?
