Some background, growing up I was always top percentile at math/logic. Math competitions, went to top 10 HS in the nation, did well enough on AIME but missed USAMO by one question. 1600 SAT.
If I had known about the high quant salaries before and how relatively obtainable a position would have for someone with my skillset, I definitely would have gone into it at 21 instead of medicine.
Instead, I somehow ended up in medicine which is definitely not my strong suit but I'll be an attending in one month at the age of 30 making 600-700k annual, 40 hour weeks, 8 weeks vacation.
My question is this--is there any niche is the quant field where I could leverage my MD to command a high (7 figure) salary off the bat? I would probably fit in with the people in quant and enjoy the work more, but would not jump ship at this late stage in the game without a substantial upside for the risk. I am aware the answer is probably no, and it does no good to look back with regret on how life turned out.
This is troll right
