Well this is a cruddy problem, but I hatched some of my favorite quail's eggs and was hoping for non-problematic females, but instead ended up with at least one male so far. However all the quails, even the male and suspect male, are really sweet-natured, which is the kind of male I was hoping for (the father was very violent and often pecked the females, so I eventually had to cull him). I don't plan on hatching any of the eggs that these quails produce, but I'm kinda grossed out by the idea of the son quail maybe hopping on his mom... does anyone know if quails will naturally avoid this? I know a lot of animals have an aversion to family members but I am not sure that quails will. I guess I don't even know that the parents weren't siblings, when it comes down to it, or how common/ uncommon quail interbreeding is in general, but I guess I just feel uncomfortable and would prefer not to have to find a new home for this male if I can justify keeping him. Thanks for any thoughts!
