One female quail alone?

Post Body

My brother, who was keeping two females in a pen outside, sadly discovered that one of his females passed today. Now there is just one lady alone, she is about 2.5 years old, and her previous female companion was a "sibling" from the same group of hatchlings. I'm trying to find a way to reunite his lone quail with my larger flock from which both girls originally came, but we might not have a viable way to do that for maybe around a month... can a single coturnix be kept alone that long? Could she be mailed to me? I would hate to have him rehome her, since she really is a lovely bird, but I'm not sure how else to get her to me (I live about 8 hours away driving), and honestly I don't really trust my brother to know how to source, quarantine, and introduce a potential new bird, or how to monitor the two of them if it's an aggressive male. So I'd rather wait until I have some time to make the 16 hr round trip if it's possible for her to be alone until I have the time to do that... if anyone has any experiences or suggestions I truly welcome them.
