He's not there for most of the album (only on 4 songs in total), and only on vocals when he is, but it's like he's just chilling throughout, and when it's time, it's like Homme realizes he needs to unleash the beast on some tracks. Notice how the darkest tracks on the record are sung by him.
Not to mention the spoken word monologue on A Song for the Deaf, that's the climax of the album. Chills.
He's a huge presence that is summoned when needed to, kills it, goes "alright", and leaves. That's how his role on this album feels like to me, and I love it.
