WD RED m.2 drives in Qnap stability
Post Body

Hi, has anyone used M.2 for the system volume in the QNAP SMB NAS units? We tried a M.2 (WD Blue) in one of there expansion cards on a smaller SOHO 2 bay and it eat the drive in about 2 years, well ahead of its expiry.

Since then i notice the SMB units generally have M.2 onboard, i would prefer to use 2 x M.2 WD RED drives as the volume over putting a 2.5inch WD RED SSD in to a front bay. The fact i had a NAS fail the M.2 has me worried about using them (also the M.2 bays are cold swap, they always concerns me
