Our 13wk puppy had been running in the yard and having a grand time with us when suddenly he was screaming and yelling. Turns out he got a greenstick fracture I'm his hind leg and has to be in a splint and cast for 4-6wks until it's healed. Vet sent us with light sedatives to keep him calm daily since currently he has to be crated constantly.
I just feel horrible and so sad. He quiet whines a lot cause he's bored, and about half the time we have to cover his crate to make him sleep the day away. When he does come out he is SO EXCITED to play and licks me and wants to frolic. But I have to carry him outside for him to potty, then carry him in and back to the crate. Our 2yr old dog gets thrilled to see the puppy out, but we have to scold him when he bounds over to play cause we can't risk the injury not healing right.
This just feels endless and I know it's not. But I've basically had to make myself ignore the puppy and treat him very strictly because of this. I want to be able to play with him and train him and go on walks but we just can't. It's been 2 weeks so theoretically only 2 or 3 more. Ugh.
