Hello! We get our first pup here in a few days. Very excited, house is ready, but I still have one question that’s proving difficult to answer.
We will be receiving him at 8 weeks old with his first round of shots and de-worming medication. We know the timeline of what other shots he will need and when. What we are getting different answers on is when can we take our pup out in public (not the dog park) and have it be safe? One vet told us he has to have all his shots, 6 months minimum, no outside contact until then. Another vet told us that after his second round of shots, he should probably be fine to go on walks... but I see young puppies in public all the time!! We ran into an 8 week old pup on a hike yesterday. I’m confused.
We just want to do what’s right by our pup, and above all don’t want him to get sick. But we want to get him out in the world too. We are big into hiking and want to share the world with this little guy.
Any advice or experience shared would be most helpful. Thanks!
