Tiring a puppy out indoors
Post Body

I’m looking for ideas on how to tire out a puppy when going outside is difficult.

I have a 4.5 month old Aussiedoodle. Where I live, it gets rather cold or we get stupid amounts of snow. The past couple weeks, it’s either been -20C or colder, and yesterday we got 50cm of snow...

The little guy loves snow but this is way too much. He sinks beneath it and whines, doesn’t want to play. Until last night, everything was a sheet of ice. He would only play where it was packed down because he break through the crust elsewhere and just wouldn’t go.

I’ve tried training and some puppy play dates. Even got him some of those puppy games from Outward Hound (level 1 and level 2). I figured that would keep him occupied.

Level 1 took him 15 mins the first time to figure out. Reset it it and he was done in 5 mins.

Gave him level 2 which builds on level 1. He figured it out in 10 mins, flipping, opening, sliding things around. Smart puppy, maybe too smart...

I want to keep the little guy occupied and give him an outlet for his energy but I’m sorta out of ideas.

Once it warms up a bit, it’ll be easier but that could be a while.

How do you all help your puppies when the weather is awful outside?
