My old dog wont cuddle my puppy

So ive have a pittie whos about 5 years of age, hes not agaggressive, i brought home a puppy 10 weeks of age, they play and get along but when she trys to cuddle with my pittie he gets extremely upset. Do they need some time to adjust or should i try to keep them separated when they are sleeping?
