Waking Up Too Early & Not Wanting to Walk

Hi! So glad I found this group. We just rang in one week with our new pup, a mix of Border Collie and Beagle, named Oreo. He’s three months and a week old today.

At first everything was awesome! He’s mostly a happy guy, super sweet, adorable and quiet. I love when we used to go out on walks, he would bite the leash and nudge on it, signaling that he wanted to run home.

But things have changed and now he’s waking up earlier and earlier in the mornings. I personally love my sleep and I wouldn’t want my family outside so early walking him on their own. We’re working on a more consistent schedule. He’s actually gotten better at peeing outside, he’s mastered pooping outside which I love! But the waking up earlier and earlier is getting to me..

The other part is once we’re outside, he might pee once and then start pulling to go back home. We don’t even make it past the first or second house. It’s personally embarrassing for me to try to pull him to walk so he can poop. I try to be kind to him, talk to him, cuddle his head and body but the struggle continues after.

I know he’s a pup and still learning but has anyone else struggled with this? And how did you manage to get yours to walk and also wake up later in the day.
