Hey all, closing CSS here trying to understand how to troubleshoot this particular problem.
I picked up a till, I had 7 physical payout slips, but the system told me that till was only supposed to have 6 payouts. After only a little bit of digging, I found I had an extra payout slip for $200, a little bit more digging, we determined that someone, somehow, did a payout without ringing it up.
After a lot of back and forth and waking up our CSAM, we were told we just had to ring up the payout and that was it.....on paper, sounds simple, right?
By the time I had picked the till up (152), it was -1 payout and -$200.
Went out, did a payout, went back to the cash office to verify.....only to realize that I had done the payout on the wrong register. Oops? Okay, I did a wu refund (second oops) and went and did another payout on the correct till (152), back to the cash office.
Now 152 was 0 payout and -$400.
Completely ignoring the fact that I inadvertently screwed up 151 by doing a payout on it by accident and a refund on it which was not the correct solution, what the hell happened with 152? My CSAM tells me that the very first payout I did, I should have stuck with it and that would have flipped. But i am still, to say the least, confused af.
After doing a payout, was the till supposed to have gotten another extra $200 instead of losing it?
