New PTO system/Unpaid Planned vacation question

So I see in the new PTO system when requesting Planned Vacation there is an unpaid option.... I am full time .. is it possible, whether in general or after using all of my paid vacation/PTO for the year to request UNPAID PTO/vacation? Like do they approve that now and is that a thing, or? What is that option specifically for?
