I don’t know when that $10 rule was put in place, but the amount of things that cost over $10 has to be exponentially more now than it was then. So you’re doing all these overrides when usually there was only 1 thing that had to be removed, which happens all the time bc of accidental double scans, or the customer changing their mind when they see the price.
When you’re the only person at the CSS desk, in the middle of a rush, it’s a real pain in the ass to keep having to tell your customers at the front desk to hold on so you can run out and do an override. It’s not like we even bother to verify the reason for the override, we just punch it in and try to get back to the desk ASAP (I work at a high volume store). Requiring the override accomplishes nothing at all other than pissing off the customers that you’re making wait at the customer service desk that you keep having to stop in the middle of serving them. Even just raising it to $15 would cut down on a lot of it.
