PTSD and anxiety in hot, humid, bright sunshine

I (53M) lived for (craved) summer sun and heat from childhood through early 40s. The hotter and sunnier outside the better. I could do recreational activities or gardening and landscaping all day every day without issue. Now, it’s the complete opposite. Outdoor heat, humidity, and bright sunshine trigger my anxiety and PTSD. The symptoms range from mild to moderate to severe; it varies. I have weekly therapy (underway for the past several years) and take medication. Last summer I took a big step and bought a used boat to get back out on the water (I grew with that). It was a mixed bag—sometimes it felt nice and other times I was very anxious. I’m told heat and sunshine can be triggers for anxiety and PTSD. What I’m wondering, if this also happens to you, is 1) how you manage it and 2) have the symptoms lessened for you over time?

Again, I work on this with my very supportive and encouraging therapist. I’m interested to hear your experiences and what’s worked for you. Thank you. 😊
