Hello all, I'm in the middle of sorting out some logistics for hosting a series of Ptcgo tournaments on reddit and would like to gauge interest if people would like to participate as well as what would you all would like to play first.
I don't want to do the same legacy/expanded/standard events you can do in-game, so this series would be based on varying rulesets. Below is a strawpoll to vote on which youd like to see hosted first
Option 1: pauper
Commons and uncommons only. This option would likely be played with expanded format setlists. For those unfamiliar, it's a format in magic and a few other card games where you're only allowed to use common and uncommons. No rares or promos. There are some weird cases that come up like GEN yveltal being an uncommon while being printed as a rare in STS, and we'll settle those issues when we get there but for the mostpart is a great format that challenges your deck building skills and is also really cheap to create.
Example decks: passamian (rip mew), alolan raticate, poison control
Option 2: Evolutions only
This tournement would limit every player to cards released in the Evolutions expansion. Finally get make use of those maintences and misty's determinations. Pretty self explanatory. This is my personal favourite option.
Example decks: mega venu, mega zard, mega slowbro
Option 3: cross format tournament
The most complex option and originally what i was gonna host first. Every entrant pics an era, aligning with the video games HGSS, BW, BW2, XY, ORAS, SM and is only allowed cards released in the corresponding sets in a showdown to show which format was strongest. The possible rule id impose: reprints not allowed. Which means no ultra ball for most players, no sycamore in SM, etc etc.

To vote
Now to answer a lot of questions The first tournement will definetly be free, and prize support will roughly be equal to the number of entrants divided by 2, so if i get 8 entrants, top prize is 4 packs.
The next events will be free as well, but prize support will depend on my funds at the time
Prize donations will always be excepted, your name will go on google doc and you dont have to actually give your donation until the end of the tourney but donations or fees are never required.
Feel free to ask anything or voice opinions in the comments below.
Edit: Comment to be pinged when signups go up
EditEdit: poll officially over, pauper has won with almost half the total votes. Rule sets and sign ups should go up Saturday.
