Cant trade a single friend

I have 3 friends and two of them i can seemingly do a private trade just fine. The 3rd one though when i select his name and hit accept the menu just disappears and the trade menu doesn't appear and nothing else happens
i had them check their settings just to make sure but it set to fully open and so is mine.
Any other reasons i cant trade him? other things to try?
