I’m American and got into psytrance when I discovered Infected Mushroom in 2019 and since then have fallen in love with it, fully immersed myself in it, especially really into forest psy and hitech right now. I thought that I had discovered something that was just about to blow up but 5 years later here we are 😂
Anyway I just don’t understand why it hasn’t blown up in the US like it has in other countries such as Israel, Portugal, etc.
What do you think the reason is? Too big of a country/too many other genres?? Too “different” for Americans?? Idk
I've said it once and I'll say it again: regional EDM (music in general but especially when it comes to EDM) preference is HEAVILY influenced by drugs, infrastructure and climate.
You need a certain type of cheap, warm, shroomy location or it'll suck. In the US the shroomy states that are warm aren't cheap and the shroomy cheap states aren't warm and overall psytrance isn't for people who'd self-describe as "cool".
Really. That's the deathknell. G House is cool. DnB is cool. Brostep was cool until it took the place of rock in trailer music. Psytrance on the other hand is 'scene' in a way that is still considered 'cringe'.
