How to explain Construal level theory (CLT)/Psychological Distance to non-psych students?

Post Body

So I supervise UX Design students and part of our curriculum is based on consumer and behavior psychology. CLT is an important aspect to understand for international marketing and designing. My thought is to build a self guided workshop for the students to do during the summer.

I have already included literature to explain what it is and how it can be understood, now I just need a real application for them to experiment with. A few ideas came to mind, find an app they dislike and break down the uses from someone outside of the demographic, examine mainstream media (tv shows, movies, etc) on aspects of CLT and how it is perceived, or take an existing product and compare their competitor in another region (e.g. Sprite vs CC Lemon).

Any other ideas would be appreciated?
