It may be a very broad question, and I guess answers may vary because (and excuse my anecdotes) sex workers come from all walks of life and some work in brothels, others do Dom stuff etc. I am, however, mostly interested in escorts (no matter the gender) who are called out/hired often for sexual services.
Here are some of my further questions if you'd like to refer to them while answering that's great, but I'm happy for any feedback in any sense:
- How might the work affect them?
- If someone already struggles with an SUD or other mental health issues, would this be considered a high risk job for them?
- Are there known psychiatric issues that impact people who regularly have sex for money?
Side note: this isn't coming from a judgemental point of view. I am only interested in this because I can't find direct answers online.
Thanks
Yeah, the vast majority (like over 90%) of people in the military are not in combat roles and don’t kill anyone.
This is pornismisogyny tier misinformation
Only if you want an entirely one sided view by women who have never actually participated in the industry and are just full of anti male sexism and often anti-sex altogether.
Decriminalization and shit like the Nordic model simply perpetuate misandry and encourages the state and sex workers to abuse clients. Â It also perpetuates the same infantilization that you are complaining about (and I agree with your point on that fwiw)
Either legalize it and make workers subject to taxation (and also anti-discrimination laws, as racism is rampant among voluntary sex workers) or make it illegal. Â None of this halfway shit that allows people to cake eat at the expense of their own customers.
Pretty much all manual labor jobs are detrimental to long term health, from working in the trades, to professional contact sports, to natural resources mining.
Should those all also be illegal?
How will you share your other views of morality with the world, since the internet requires someone to do those unhealthy jobs to function?

Also a lot of these studies lump sex workers who are trafficked with those who do so voluntarily (ie have actual agency over their clientele and work environment).
Which further highlights your point about not controlling for preexisting PTSD or ACEs
