Question about physically healing people

I grew up in a Christianity-based cult that was very focused on faith healing. I just read very similar accounts in the book "the hummingbird's daughter" about a curandera in late 1800's Mexico who seemed to heal people in a very similar way; golden light / heat coming from a higher power through her hands and into the body of the person who is unwell, and this light heals them. I have not directly experienced this, but I would like to. The closest I've come is sending calming / loving energy to a few states away to help someone I cared about out of a panic attack. I did this not knowing what was goin going on with them; just knew to send energy. Later when we talked the time stamps checked out, so I decided to remember that something special seemed to happen that day, instead of writing it off as coincidence and forgetting about it. I quit the religion I grew up in a long time ago, but I continue to have the weird experiences that my family used as evidence supporting the correctness of their religion's worldview. Can anyone recommend resources for me to learn more about this sort of healing? Thanks in advance.
