Problem updating modded fat psp (3.71 to 6.60)

I've been trying recently to update my psp (1000 model), unfortunately i don't know what mod it has since it was modded back in 2007
At first i tried to download the update via wifi, but it gave me the error 800100005, even if my memory stick can read without any problem iso game files and save data. I read online that i can't jump from 3.xx to the 6.xx so i tried with 5.01, I formatted the both stick and psp but still nothing, it keeps giving me both 800100005 and 80020321 errors. What should i do?
