I thought I would make a basic information post just to help newbies be safe and smart in their experience(s) with Psilocybe cubensis - Magic Mushrooms.

1. It is not all about the "heroic dosage"!
   (The reality is that heroic dosages can be really challenging in both a mental and physical sense. It can also take serious integration time to really process the big shifts in perspective, feelings, and so forth you experience. It is not uncommon to hear about a year or more for integration. In general there is a place for these deep psychonaut level experiences but please practice some maturity around them for your own benefit, others, and the over all community.)

2. There is a place for fun :D
   (Not all experiences have to be powerful paradigm shifting level experiences. You can take a medium dose and enjoy an amazing recreational time with friends or at an amazing festival! Take time for simple fun Lol)

3. Microdosing! (Microdosing can be a powerful tool for those suffering from certain headache conditions. It can also help with depression and anxiety and or just overall sense of well being. It is not highly studied however because of draconian stone age drug laws so please don't treat as a miracle cure or peddle fake information. Although for some this really is a miracle.)

4. Knowing what you are consuming!
   (Please spend some time here on the various Psilocybe cubensis subreddits so you get a feel of what these beautiful things look like! The reality is that if you get some great cubes you are probably consuming a B or GT (Golden Teacher) variety as they are highly grown in commercial settings. Everything is sold as "Penis Envy" because it is such a big name right now. There are some things you can look for in regards to this variety but when cubes are dried they all kind of look the same (in most cases). Please also know what certain varieties like Albino Penis Envy and other incredibly strong varieties look like because you need to adjust your dosage. Yes growing conditions and genetics are the number one determiner for potency but there are certain varieties that are commonly off the charts such as APEs.)

5. Most chocolate bars and other things like this are fake! (Sadly this is the case. Most of these products are fake or research chemicals!)

6. This point really comes off of all the proceeding! GROW YOUR OWN! (The cannabis movement had a great phrase "Overgrow the government!" and it really is a powerful slogan/truth. This is a really easy, cheap, and most of all fun hobby!)

In general try and learn a bit before experiencing so you know what the experience will be like. Take it slow - Gain some experience and wisdom around this amazing fungi! And Please, Please, Please! Practice safe usage so you are kind to yourself, others, and the movement as a whole!

The reality is we are close to decriminalization and possible legalization in many places. Don't let a lack of knowledge, or a lack of experience, or just frankly a lack of common sense and respect/maturity set back the rights of others or re-enforce psychedelic stigma! :)
