What's the best starting point for installing custom firmware/modding a ps3?

I'd like to mod my ps3 super slim to play ps2, psx, and PSP backups but all the tutorials I find are either outdated or non beginner friendly. Any advice on reputable channels and/or tutorials that has the smallest chance to brick my console. Thank you
