The video has a lot of views and all the comments are basically people saying, "oh wow I had no idea." The information isn't necessarily important and certainly not harmful, but as an avid PS2 collector, I don't like seeing misinformation be spread.
I decided to look through my own collection and see if there was any validity to John's declaration (which he stated as fact), and these are the games that I checked, since I own both Black Label and Greatest Hits versions of them.
*Ace Combat 4
*Bully
*Crash Nitro Kart
*Crazy Taxi
*Devil May Cry
*Devil May Cry 2
*Devil May Cry 3
*Final Fantasy X
*Final Fantasy X-2
*Final Fantasy XII
*Gran Turismo 3
*Grand Theft Auto III
*Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
*Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
*Metal Gear Solid 2
*Namco Museum (GH is the matching version; not 50th Anniversary)
*Need for Speed: Carbon
*Resident Evil: Code Veronica - X
*Resident Evil: Outbreak
*Resident Evil 4
*Shadow of the Colossus
*Shadow the Hedgehog
*Silent Hill 2
*Smuggler's Run
*Star Wars: Battlefront
*Star Wars: Battlefront II
*Test Drive
*Thrillville
Out of all of these, the only one that had a color manual in the Black Label version and a colorless label in the Greatest Hits version was Final Fantasy X. So, given that the example that John used in his video was Kingdom Hearts, maybe it's a Squaresoft thing? But even if it is, that isn't necessarily something they always or even mostly do, as this was neither the case for FFX-2 nor FFXII.
Some games have colorless manuals in both BL and GH versions, like all three of the DMC games (exterior of the manual is color) and NFS: Carbon (exterior of the manual is colorless), while most other games have color manuals in both versions.
Again, this information is dumb and unimportant, but I just get annoyed when someone creates false facts and then everyone believes it and gives them a lot of clout for it. Especially considering how near and dear the PS2 library is to me; it's the only console that I collect for.
I'll put the link to the video in a comment, since this sub doesn't allow YT links.
