Hey gang,
So I've been using Ableton forever and recently I've gotten into some really good, serious projects with a vocalist. My work flow has gotten quick at this point and while the track was coming together I would just record her vocals directly into arrange mode in Ableton, throw some Izotope Nectar on top, multiband, tada.
Last night she was working with a producer on a different track and we were chatting about tips he had given her and one such tip was the need to use Pro Tools for vocals, that we should be bouncing all the audio from Ableton into PT and using PT to record vocals.
I've spent the past few hours doing all the research I can, and while I did see there's a good enthusiasm for the Ableton/PT combo it's a freaking expensive dive in. I really have done all the research I can and need to ask you friendly folk if our friend is correct that in order to "level up" our tracks we need to be recording in PT?
