On a recent trip to an unnamed nursery, I was granted backstage access to a secret room with plants owned by several luminaries. The manager generously gifted me an aloe vera cutting from a plant that belonged to Jim Morrison (before I knew you couldn’t propagate aloe vera from leaf cuttings).
My mind started racing, is there an underground market for famous plants?
Toni Morrison’s Bluest (English) Ivy?
Kali Uchis’ Calathea?
ZZ Top’s…...philodendron?
Has anyone heard or read anything about well-known people and their plants? I’m fascinated and would love to hear any anecdotes. Thanks in advance!
(P.S. My once a-Doors-able aloe vera leaf cutting has predictably withered in the soil in which I planted her, but I loved her madly in the time she was in my home. Here she is in her hey day)
