I recently bought the game and I'm at the point where I'm fairly well equipped (IMO), so I went and started looking for a base. I decided to try to make a first base on the second floor of a house that's next to the police and fire stations in Rosewood.

Got lucky and found a sledgehammer in the fire station so I went home, made an escape rope and destroyed the staircase leading up to the second floor in the house I picked, hoping that it should make it relatively safe for me to exist up there but I'm not sure what to do now to not waste time.

I know there is an incoming helicopter event around the 7th day, but I already had a helicopter fly around but I was inside and it sounded pretty far from me anyway. It didn't really do much as far as I can tell... at least where I was.

My question would be: What to do now? Is it even a good idea to have a second floor base? I didn't start crafting or anything yet, should I? Start farming? Look for a generator? Abandon the entire place and look for something else that's on ground level?

The other thing I was thinking about is getting a working car with enough gas to go far towards the river, and build an entirely custom base with it at it's back so I have a place to fish and drink from... just not sure if I should stick around at my current place or leave as soon as I can
