Will drywall anchors that are rated for 50lbs be good for ceiling mounting a 7.5lbs projector (Epson Home Cinema 2100)? I ask because drywall’s anchors are designed to hold that 50lbs load perpendicularly to the anchor, not vertically. Given 1) how thickly the anchors are threaded, 2) how the anchors splay out on the other end of the drywall once the screw goes in, and 3) that 7.5lbs is far lighter than 50lbs (even though pulling in a different direction), would this be fine? There’d be four of them holding the mount in place. This is all assuming that no joists are nearby where the projector needs to be placed. I’ve heard that one could install a board between two joists and just paint it, but I’m trying to avoid that if possible. So yeah, will those drywall anchors suffice?
Edit: for reference, these are the anchors I just got: https://www.homedepot.com/p/E-Z-Ancor-Twist-N-Lock-50-lbs-Drywall-Anchors-with-Screws-25-Pack-25200/100133106
Edit 2: Answer: Nope. Just connect two joists and be worry-free. Thanks to all for answering!
