In your experience is there much difference between a APM role and a PM role?

Post Body

I’ve been a construction project coordinator for about 2 years supporting senior project managers and senior program managers - I am looking to move towards the next step in my career, I figured Associate Project Manager is where I would like to go next, however I’ve been considering making the jump straight to PM.

But my questions are

As a PC would I be biting more than I can chew by skipping the APM stage?

Do you deem any real difference between the two? I feel like authority is the main difference but it seems like the roles of the two tend to blur.

Please share any valuable information/or insight you have regarding your personal transition from entry level PM roles to higher roles

Thanks!
