Story is about most of humanity (except the ISS crew, who land & have descendants) getting petrified & revived millennia in the future & rebuilding technology.

Good/evil discussion ends in people>tools. And that the GSWs from this one wouldn't be fatal because the barrel had no rifling, and some more spoilery stuff I won't mention. One of the characters was a police officer so they hand him the gun, he sets up 3 bottles, fires 3, misses the bottles but hits a snake. They praise him for hitting the snake but he freaks out internally that he's a terrible shot & needs to practice before the mission. So art imitating life pretty well, I'd say.
