Ask /r/Programming: iPhone Etiquette
Post Body

I have a question for all the site owners out there:

I am in the process of programming a simple iPhone app that would help people access a certain website, and keep them up-to-date on content changes.

This site does not have an RSS feed or anything similar, so what my app would do is essentially access the site (indirectly) every few minutes, looking for content changes.

My question is this: Would this irritate you? Your site is now being accessed periodically by a program that checks every few minutes, whereas he same user might view your site once a day otherwise (eating a lot of bandwidth). So /r/programming, what do you think?

EDIT: the site isn't ad-supported
