So, today on the way home I was listening to Animals as Leaders, and the realization that I will never be able to talk to my dad about music anymore hit me hard...
Long story short, the main way my dad and I connected was through music. He introduced me to Pink Floyd which we really clicked on and talked about quite a bit, but I diverged as a teen and got into heavy metal, I introduced him to some bands like Nightwish, Epica, and other softer things but it always came back to Floyd. Now my dad has Alzheimer's and is slowly wasting away in another state. I try to ignore it, but it's always there in the back of my mind.
So to get me over this slump, I'm looking for bands to recommend him over the phone and ones that I can show him when I go to visit him in a few months. I'm just going to have this like it's never happening and we're going to talk about music like we used to. Clean singing please because he doesn't like the "Screamo" stuff. (I know it's not screamo it's just what he and my sister call the music I listen to.)
So please recommend me some stuff.
