My great grandma tried to have two at home abortions in the 1930s. The first one failed and she had my grandma. When she got pregnant again, she died of the at home abortion. Because of this my grandma was raised by her grandmother who was very abusive to her. This affected how she raised kids and how her kids raised their kids. This trauma is passed down through generations. (Dont believe me? Ask any indigenous person or person whose ancestors were slaves) I feel the effects of this trauma. I did not have a healthy childhood and I'm still recovering. I wish my great grandma had access to a proper and safe abortion. I don't care that it means I wouldn't be here. My life has been trauma after trauma and you can trace it back to the death of my great grandma.
Im so fearful of the future for people with uteri. We need fix this asap. I am so grateful to live in a blue state but really that doesn't guarantee anything. The future is bleak and I feel helpless.
If you are scared and/or angry, reach out to friends, take actions, vote, write to congress, etc. We need to stand together and support people with uteri having access to safe and affordable abortions.
