Anxious about cat theft

I just bought a 2014 V and I’m wondering if I should buy a cat shield / something to make it harder to steal? I’m assuming it’s an obvious “yes” answer- but…
Do these actually prevent or just make it take longer? Probably a stupid question bc obviously someone who wants something bad enough will figure it out.
I’m in love with my car and terrified now of it getting stolen. I’m in IL.
