do i really need to buy all these additives for strawberry wine?

Hey guys!
I was looking into starting some homebrewing, but when I looked at strawberry wine recipes, a lot of them call for all kinds of things like pectin, tannins, acid, and all kinds of other chemicals. All these recipes call for different things, too, so I don't even know what I should buy.
I've got wine yeast but I don't know how I feel about running around looking for all kinds of other stuff, which makes it impossible to find a recipe now. You guys have any experience with fruit wines like that?
