Good evening all! I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the book that just popped into my head.

Unknown ships have been arriving at earth, and we attempt board? And figure out what they do. Most of the boarders get killed but a few survive. Another ship shows up some time later, but changes have been made each time after humans interact with it. So now it’s become a collective effort, everyone watches through the video feed, and bid on the changes. Like a doorway that used to be there is now gone, but someone believes there is a void behind the wall, bid accepted and the human attempts to investigate. I also remember one of the characters was in a wheelchair missing both legs from his attempt on boarding the ship.

It’s been a long time since I thought of this book, and my Google fu can’t seem to dredge anything up.
