I was incredibly stoked to find out that Samantha Mills had a master's of library and information science degree when I got to the bio section at the end of The Wings Upon Her Back. I'm working on earning the same degree myself, and it's always interesting to find a commonality you share with an author if you enjoy their work. Doing a quick search, I find out that Elizabeth Moon and Katharine Kerr both come from the field of library and information science as well. I haven't read anything by Kerr yet, but Moon is great. I also know that Cory Doctorow was a visiting professor at UNC School of Library and Information Science, and he's one of my absolute favorites. Do you guys know of any other speculative fiction authors with backgrounds in library and information science? Also, have you ever had something similar happen where you find out an author you enjoy has the same degree you do or worked in the same profession as you?
