Advice for someone planning on moving to a new climate (Temperate -> Desert)?
Post Body

I currently live in Michigan, but in a year or two my partner and I are planning a move to Southern Nevada - basically IN the Mojave desert. What are some tips you have for me as someone who knows only the basics of desert life so far and who is coming from a temperate climate?

Some stuff I already know:

  • Hot during the day, cold at night.
  • Need to store more water.
  • Need to store preps that are NOT heat sensitive (less canned, more dried food).
  • Already looking into solar panels.
  • Already learning about what boots pants combos are best for scorpion protection and know to check shoes and things.
  • Already have dust storm gear (face masks, goggles, gloves, boots).

Secondary note: We are starting out in an RV, so storage space is not huge.

Other than the stuff I mentioned, what do I need to know about the desert life? Any links, tips, or videos are appreciated. :)
