I was watching the thunderstorm at my house yesterday and thought of all the water going to waste that I can use to water my plants. I want to set up a water barrel for non potable water.
Where can you find cheap barrels that haven't been used to store toxic chemicals? Preferably new to used. I am in North Texas.
For those who store rainwater for drinking purposes, how do you prevent it from getting nasty in long term storage and prevent contaminants during initial collection (such as on your roof/gutters, super small insects, ambient microbes)?
Check your local laws. Rain collecting isn't legal everywhere.
