MK18 Clones worth it for survival?

Post Body

So I have a few ARs and an AK, I’m looking to downsize as I have panic brought over the years and I really just want one go to rifle that I practice with consistently and develop good muscle memory and technique with as opposed to multiple different guns that I can go months without training with.

The thought that crossed my mind was building a MK18 clone. I already have a Daniel defense MK18 complete upper but I have Anderson AR-15 complete lower with it and some other cheap hardware (don’t kill me please). I’m looking to turn this build into a more clone correct Mk 18 complete with tan hardware and EOTech sights, Surefire weapon light etc.

Is something this “Gucci” actually worth it for SHTF scenarios? Or just sticking to the cheap stuff worth it all the more? I hear the saying that money isn’t worth your life so why cheap out on something you may one day have to depend on?

Please let me know your thoughts.
