I really want to highlight my relationship with this particular medical school but I don't want to seem like I'm trying to squeak in on anything other than merit. Just going to put it in bullet form here.
2 years of research experience in a Phys/Pharm lab with the School of Medicine and finalizing a first author manuscript under the SOM. Also had the opportunity to work with some PGY-1 urology residents in the lab.
ED volunteer at the hospital which is directly associated with the SoM and plan to do this for the next year as well
5 of my LOEs come from people associated with the SoM. 2 MDs and 3 PhDs.
60 hours of shadowing with SoM/hospital physicians that precept residents
Father and brother went to the medical school. Father was also an assistant clinical professor of family medicine and sponsored students for probably 20 years in his clinic. Brother was also employee of the month when he did a prelim year for surgery
Another brother is a dentist with the hospital and has instructed either the PA or MD program.
Literally walk by the SoM every single day as I go to the lab which kills me inside
The ED program would have been great if it actually allowed some time to apply to other schools after you heard. My brother actually did the ED program when he was accepted 10 years ago, but seems risky.
