I think my scammer is going to be a Doctor
Post Body

So 2 years ago I was planning on taking the MCAT but ended up not doing so due to a multitude of problems. I had bought Uganda for practice but had not done any questions. I advertised it on Reddit that I had 2 months of a Upoop subscription left for a discounted price and ended up selling it to a fellow Redditor through Ebay. (I know the terms of Uwhirled, but I was poor and needed an extra buck). Naive, stupid me thought that screenshots of our conversation would be enough insurance for me and would be enough to prove that I had indeed done what I said I would do. I had texted this Redditor, found out he lived in the Fort Worth area, and his Reddit account stretched back for more than 3 years, so I felt like he was reliable.

Fast forward 2 months, I suddenly received an email from Ebay stating that the buyer had filed a complaint that I had not delivered the materials that were promised. I was very confused and started reaching out to Ebay to see what was happening. I also tried to contact the Redditor. Turns out, he had deleted his account and would not respond to any texts. Basically, he had used up all of the Uglobe and then decided to scam me out of my money by using Ebay's tendency to favor the buyer in all disputes. I fought the case as long as I could, but in the end I had to refund the money for nothing.

I had mostly forgotten about this case other than storing a little reminder of it on my laptop to remind me not to fall prey to this scam. Today, while going through my computer to clear up storage, I came across the old screenshots. I was able to find out the buyer's name when I had screenshotted his information as it came up on Paypal. Out of curiosity, I googled his name followed by Fort Worth, and came across a LinkedIn account of the same name.

Turns out, the guy who scammed me is a student at a Med School! Of course, there is the possibility that it is a different person with the same name, but it is not a common name, and there is only one other account with the same name on LinkedIn. Plus, buying the Usphere MCAT account and the date that he has listed for when he graduates med school seems to match up.

So, I don't know what the lesson is in this long ass story. Maybe it is to abide by the terms and conditions. Maybe it is to not be naive and be mistrustful of everybody. Maybe it is to realize that becoming a med student much less a doctor does not mean that you are automatically a good person and that getting into medical school is not the end all be all of life. But I decided it might be a fun read for somebody.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that the scammer does not go to a Texas school, he was originally in Texas when he scammed me

Pretty big difference between cheating a large company vs cheating some random kid.
